What's Christmas *really* about?

We're influenced by a lot of ideas toward what Christmas is about. In this sermon, pastor Luke started by sharing his top five Christmas movies and then, on a more serious note, looked to John 1:1-14 to explore the importance of the Incarnation.

We spent a few minutes looking at the story of the Ethiopian Eunuch and then celebrated alongside four people who decided to get baptized!

The Vineyard is a community that seeks to identify the work of God in our lives and takes the time to celebrate what he has and is doing. In this talk, pastor Luke Geraty interviewed Olivia Fambrough as she shared what God's been doing in her life. This was a powerful message of how God has given her peace in the midst of anxiety and has taught her about trusting him.

Many people are controlled by worry and fear. Based on the teachings of Jesus and his early followers, one of the ways to battle worry is to be thankful! This is the third sermon in our series on Thanksgiving for the month of November.

Beginning our new series, "Thanksgiving: Gratitude Beyond Turkey," pastor Luke worked through 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 and explored how we at the Vineyard can apply this passage. From starting with gratitude, being specific in our thankfulness, and determining to be a more grateful community, we invited the Holy Spirit to help us become more effective at the art of appreciation.

Finishing our series, "A Meal with Jesus," Luke worked through the passage describing when Jesus' disciples were on the Road to Emmaus and how they came to know and experience Jesus. 

A Meal w/ Jesus: Meals As Enacted Mission (Luke 14:1-24)

Looking to Jesus' parable about the Great Feast, we explored how Jesus' expressions of hospitality were powerful ways of joining God's mission. 

A Meal w/ Jesus: Meals As Enacted Hope (Luke 9:1-20)

Working through Luke 9's "feeding of the thousands," Luke spent time talking about how meals are able to communicate hope to those who are invited! 

Baptism Service (10-02-16)

After a short talk about baptism, we celebrated a number of people who made their faith "public" by identifying themselves with Jesus through baptism. What a celebration!!! We also had some spontaneous decisions by people to identify themselves to Jesus!

A Meal w/ Jesus: Meals As Enacted Community (Luke 7:36-39)

In this sermon, pastor Luke looked to Luke 7 as a model where Jesus used meals to build and maintain community. Jesus' scandalous grace looked past the outward appearances of people and saw them for who they were -- created in God's image and in need of a Savior.
