Caroling through Christmas (Silent Night)

The story behind "Silent Night" includes an Austrian church without a pipe organ and the simple lyrics of a Catholic Priest. This beloved song point us to the Incarnation! In this sermon, pastor Luke Geraty looked at John 1:1-18 and then explored the aspects of the Incarnation that we should apply into our own lives and participation in God's mission.

In our new series, "Caroling through Christmas," we began our "Behind the Carol" look at "Joy to the World." Written by Isaac Watts and based on Psalm 96, 98, and Genesis 3, Isaac reminded us of the great reasons to have joy during the Advent season!

This week we had a guest speaker, Josh Carpenter. Josh is one of the pastors at Sunrise Bible Fellowship here in Red Bluff. In this sermon, Josh talked about the implications of Matthew 5:13-16 and challenged us to generously be a salt and a light in our community.

Luke Geraty, one of our pastors, started this sermon by sharing a bit of how the Vineyard has been involved in serving the community in light of the recent shooting that took place in Rancho Tehama and then shared more about why generosity is such an important quality for followers of Jesus to express!

Introducing our new series on the paradox of generosity, pastor Luke framed the sermon series by looking at how empiracal social science research has conclusively demonstrated that Jesus' words in Luke 6:38 ("give, and you will receive") are facts!

Finishing up our series, "What is God like?", pastor Wes shared from 1 John 4's emphasis that God is love. Because God is love, he transforms us by the power of the Spirit. 

Unity of the Faith: Thoughts on My Participation in the Evangelical - Catholic Dialogue

For three days, pastor Luke spent time participating in the Evangelical-Catholic Dialogue at the Univeristy of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. In this sermon, Luke shares some thoughts on how the Vineyard can continue to both value and pursue Church unity with other denominations, while also maintaining a commitment to our theology, values, and distinctives. 

What is God like? (God is generous)

Looking to Psalm 23, pastors Dawn and Luke continued our series "What is God like?" and considered how God is generous. Despite the way culture causes us to often think we have earn God's favor, what we see in Scripture is that God is generous with his grace, mercy, and love.

Looking to Psalm 100, pastor Luke spoke on the goodness of God and how the psalmist places the foundation of God's goodness on his unfailing love and faithfulness.
